Georgia Cormick has been playing for the Melbourne Rugby Club since 2013, playing the majority of the backline positions, with halfback being her specialty. Georgia was pivotal in the team taking out the 2017 Lindroth Cup and was awarded the best player of the grand final.
This year one woman has been instrumental to the success of the Junior program at the Melbourne Rugby Club. Michelle Iezzi is the Club’s Junior Coordinator and is the driving force that allows our children to be able to play and compete on the rugby field each Saturday during the season.
Alana Thomas is a rising coach in Australian Rugby working with many teams from club, state and this year the head coach for the newly formed Melbourne Rebels W squad in the Super W series. Alana played as a Wallaroo from 2006 to 2010 and has made the transition from player to coach.
The Match of the Round for Round 6 of the 2018 Dewar Shield will see third place Moorabbin take on competition leaders Melbourne. Moorabbin and Melbourne both come into this game in winning form, with Moorabbin claiming three wins on the trot, while Melbourne remain the only undefeated side of the 2018 season after five rounds of the Dewar Shield.
The Match of the Round for Round 5 of the 2018 Dewar Shield will see a 2017 Grand Final replay as Melbourne take on Harlequins at Romanis Reserve. Melbourne and Harelquins both come into the match undefeated this season, with the sides sitting in first and second on the Dewar Shield table respectively. This match will be the first time the sides have met since the 2017 Dewar Shield Grand Final.
This year the Melbourne Rugby Club is proud to be supporting the Mission Massimo Foundation. Tragically, Massimo Damiani unexpectedly passed away late last year. While he never had the opportunity to play rugby due to his terrible illness, he loved to watch his twin brothers Leonardo and Marco play for the Unicorns.

Melbourne Rebels and Unicorns Women’s Head Coach Alana Thomas has named her 30-player squad for the inaugural season of Super W, which kicks off in March.
Melbourne Rebels and cousins Atasi Lafai and Oneata Schwalger are now dual code athletes having been selected to represent Samoa at the upcoming 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championships.
