Melbourne have defeated three time defending champions Harlequins 20-19 to win the Dewar Shield grand final. Persistence paid off for the Unicorns as they pulled back a 6-19 deficit at half time to finally beat Harlequins after failing to do so in their first three meetings.
It has been 32 years since a team last won four Dewar Shield premierships in a row. Harlequins will get their chance to break the drought this Saturday when they face Melbourne in the grand final at RHL Sparks Reserve. Melbourne are no strangers to the situation Harlequins find themselves in – they were the last team to fall short of four premierships in a row.

As predicted the Grand Final in the #DewarShield will be against the two form sides; Harlequins and Melbourne. In a strong display of on-field organisation, solid defence and deadly speed from the backs the Unicorns downed the Broncos 35 – 14.

Harlequins qualified for their fourth consecutive #DewarShield Grand Final with a 20-11 win over Melbourne Unicorns at a sodden Ashwood Reserve on Saturday.
After eighteen rounds of #DewarShield action, Semi-Finals are upon us and this weekend’s big matchup sees the number one and two teams square off when Harlequins host Melbourne at Ashwood Reserve. The teams last met in Round 16 when they played out a 10-10 Draw so this Saturday’s game is anyone’s for the taking.

The long awaited top of the table Dewar Shield clash ends in an entertaining draw, where both teams could have scored a win. Despite some wasted opportunities, it was a hard-fought battle at Ashwood Reserve. In an entertaining but tight encounter, both teams were held to a ten-all draw.

The Buildcorp Wallaroos extended squad has been announced for August’s training camp in preparation for their tour of New Zealand. One of those players, Unicorn Oneata Schwalger, is the only Victorian selected in the extended squad which is a massive achievement.

Victoria has named a 24 player squad to compete at the Women’s National XVs Championship at St Ignatius College Riverview in Sydney from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June. The squad includes players from all six sides that contest the Victorian women’s club competition including no less than nine Unicorns.
