Preview Rd 12 Dewar Shield Melbourne v Quins

PREVIEW: MELBOURNE v HARLEQUINS

The final match of this round, 2013 Grand Finalists Melbourne Unicorns and Harlequins meet in a real grudge match for the Bott-Bolton Cup.

The Unicorns have been a little inconsistent in 2015 after being runners up in 2013 and finishing the competition in third place last year, but after four straight wins and a bye they’re well and truly up and about heading into the game against a ‘Quins side who’ve won eight straight after dropping their first two this season and are equal on points with second placed Melbourne Uni.

“Melbourne Unicorns have produced some big winning margins of the last few games,” Harlequin Head Coach Cliff Viliamu said. “With a strong set piece and speed to burn out wide, we are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

Their winning run has been a real team effort, Viliamu said, when pressed to single out individuals.

“Everyone plays a big part in this team and it’s always hard to pick one out of the bunch. Centre Leo Talai and Number Eight Pom Simona are definitely leading the way, and we’re looking for them both to have a big game this week against the Unicorns.”
