This week, Melbourne Unicorns and Melbourne Uni meet in the Direct Connect #DewarShield Match of the Day, to be live tweeted via @melbournerebels.
When they last met back in Round Four, Melbourne Uni ran out comfortable winners 36-12, however this is a markedly different Unicorns side.
They’ve won six of their last seven since then, and stopped Harlequin’s eight game winning streak last week; they’re arguably the competition’s in-form side, despite sitting fourth on the table as it becomes noticeably tighter.
The blip which saw Melbourne Uni lose their first two matches of the season in succession at the end of May seems a lifetime ago; in their past two fixtures, they’ve scored 135 points and conceded just 5.
“The Unicorns are one of the in-form sides at the moment and they will be pumped up at their home ground; it will be one hell of a contest,” Uni Head Coach Jason Jones said. “They play their game based around a strong set piece and committing limited numbers to the breakdown, so we have to be effective with our first and second arrivals.
“We hit a bit of rhythm last week and found a bit of our shape back which was really pleasing, and our boys are pretty excited to be entering this back third of the season; game on!”
