Preview Dewar Shield Rd 15 Melbourne v Footscray

PREVIEW: MELBOURNE v FOOTSCRAY

With both Melbourne and Footscray losing last weekend, the former remain three points behind the latter in the battle for the final playoffs spot (though the Unicorns points differential is vastly superior).

Only Power House have scored less points than Footscray, however the Doggies have beaten some good opponents and after a disappointing defeat to ‘House last week they will be desperate to hit back here.

“The Club knows what is at stake this week against Melbourne, and we will prepare as well as possible for what both teams realise is a massive game in the context of the finals race,” Footscray Head Coach Justin Carroll said.

Unicorns’ Head Coach Anare Koliavu agreed, saying that “it’s a battle for finals and it’s do or die! No doubt it will be a very tough encounter, as their forwards especially were a handful in our last meeting.”

Adding to the intrigue is that these sides drew 24-24 back in Round One; it would take a brave man to tip the winner here!
